Celebrating Earth Day, everyday.
That is our mission at Girard Illustration.
The thunder of hooves on an open plain.
The song of frogs under the starlit sky.
The unique call of loons at dawn on a mist shrouded pond.
These are the true treasures of our planet.
They are worth keeping safe for our children's, children's grand children to experience.
Animals like horses, whales, monarch butterflies and sea turtles, and plants like sequoias, ferns and elm trees, don’t get to choose the obstacles they face, like parking lots, suburban sprawl, and poachers placed in their path to simple survival.
Their survival depends on conditions outside their control, but not ours. You and me, together, can stand up for them, speak for their needs, and help others to care. Sometimes all it takes is small acts of kindness, at just the right time, to help our fellow creatures thrive. We are the caretakers of the earth, and we all need to care.
Caring can come in many forms:
- Eating responsible sourced food.
- Turning off the lights when you leave a room.
- Spaying and neutering your pets.
- Keeping your cats indoors so they are not tempted to hunt songbirds.
- Supporting nature parks and estuaries.
- Picking up trash and properly disposing of it.
There are many, many ways to care, everyday. Often the most important thing we can do is to teach our children to love and appreciate the natural world.
Join me in doing acts of kindness for the Earth, everyday. I'll keep you updated on how we are doing our part at Girard Illustration on our blog, and share ways we can all do acts of kindness for the earth, everyday.
