To get the party started, I thought you would find it fun to know a little bit about how the prints are made, why they are so special, and why they will look amazing on your walls for years to come.
Today let's take a look at a fun part of the printing process called test strips.
Test strips are small printed strips of the artwork that are used as a tool to make the final print look as much like the original artwork as possible. Getting the print to look just right can be a difficult job because color can change a great deal from when the original artwork is photographed, then is translated to the computer screen, and then is prepared for print.
The test strip's role is to allow all the necessary adjustments to be made, while saving on ink and paper, which is good for the environment because the test strips cut down on a lot of waste. To the unexperienced eye, the test strips can look very much alike, however, each one is the result of altering the printed color in one or more areas to get everything just right.
We make only the highest quality, most beautiful art reproductions and prints, which means that we don't call it quits until the final print is perfect. This means that sometimes it can take as many as 25 test strips before the print is deemed fit for a trial printing of the whole painting. That is a lot of paper and ink saved! Trial prints of the whole painting are called artist's proof prints. Quality and craftsmanship are very important to us, so the effort is well worth it to make sure that the final prints look simply – beautiful.
